Minister/$6Billion: US State Department denies Oshiomhole’s $6B story, asked him to name the US-Official–Reports News Politics 6 hours ago Edo State governor who accompanied Buhari in 4-days State visit to United States has alleged that a minister who served under the former Goodluck Jonathan administration, stole $6billion (more than N1.2 trillion), he told Reporters on Monday. But quick contact with United States Department in Washington-DC, on the matter said it is false allegation. US State Department denied the story, asked Oshiomhole, to name the official and not drag United States into Nigeria domestic politics, Republic Reporters gathered. Oshiomhole who failed to disclose the name of the minister said the details were provided last week by United States officials during President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit there. Mr. Oshiomhole, who was part of the delegation, did not give the name of the minister. “We have moved away from a president that doesn’t seem to know his powers to one that understands that he is a president of the country in the continent,” Mr. Oshiomhole said in response to criticisms of the trip by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. He spoke on Monday at the state house where he and the Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu, as members of the APC governors’ forum, briefed President Buhari on the outcome of a discussion held with APC Senators Sunday. “PDP destroyed the country- I mean from the lips of American officials; senior officials of the state department. They said one minister under PDP cornered as much as $6billion, and the man said even by Washington standard that is earth-quaking,” he said. He said the country was being very patient with the PDP; otherwise Nigerians would have been “stoning” anyone carrying the badge of the party. Mr. Oshiomhole said the PDP government plundered Nigeria, destroyed its institutions, damaged the military, converted the NTA to a party megaphone, destroyed the SSS, went after opposition, and compromised even student unions. Mr. Oshiomole said under the PDP, there was no law as they were law to themselves. “We are a very patient people. If we were not a patient people, anybody wearing the tag of PDP ought to feel very unsafe because you are all victims- all of us here,” he said. He quoted American officials as saying that Mr. Jonathan was seen as a confused president who did not know what they issues were, leaving others outside the country “frustrated”. Recalling a chat with the US Assistant Secretary of State, Johnnie Carson, on the difference between the two administrations, Mr. Oshiomhole said Mr. Carson told him that each time they thought that there was light at the end of the tunnel for Nigeria and it is time to encourage them to build on it, “you we would wake up the following day under president Jonathan to find out that even the tunnel had been removed”. “Now last week, this same Carson cheered the president’s address at the Institute of Peace. And he said ‘we now have a man of enormous integrity; one that has shown so much faith in the democratic process; one that refused to be frustrated even in the face of massively rigged elections,”

'There's nothing to gain in pulling Okonjo-Iweala down' - Peter Obi The former Governor of Anambra State met with some journalists in the state recently where he spoke on various burning national issues. Of note was the alleged mismanagement of Nigeria's economy by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala...... "It is rather unfortunate that we have this attitude of trying to pull down our best. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala is a global star and only came back to serve her country and she did that with passion. We gain nothing trying to pull her down. We did it with Arunma Otteh, but we know what she is today. I have been in several meetings where this woman (Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala) was almost crying as she explained and pleaded with all and sundry on the need to save for the rainy day. She advised that proceeds from excess crude sales should be saved in the Sovereign National Wealth Fund for effective management. I have read newspaper reports that it is ironic that she spoke of a rainy day when it was already pouring. I personally remain indebted to her because it was from her persistent preaching on the need to save in the Sovereign National Wealth Fund that made me incorporate savings in foreign currency – that is why one third of the money we left on leaving office was in foreign currency, $156 million(N25 billion at that time). With interest now it would be about $170 million and with the current rate it is almost N40 billion. My position in all this is that we must cultivate the attitude of saving as a country. Excess crude money should be saved in the Sovereign Wealth Fund. No country will survive without saving for the future. Even in animal kingdom, the ants save for the rainy day. We must save bearing in mind that natural resources that we enjoy today are depleting assets."

Thursday, 30 July 2015 DAFUQ!!!! Priest Announces on Pulpit That he is Gay, Divorcing Wife And Marrying a Man (Photos) An Episcopal congregation in Queens was in for a big surprise recently when their priest Rev. Juan Andres Quevedo-Bosch, 59, came on pulpit to give Sunday sermon and announced that he is gay. The shocked congregation was further informed that he is divorcing his wife and marrying a younger man. Rev. Juan Andres Quevedo-Bosch, is the archdeacon of Queens and rector of the Church of the Redeemer in Astoria,............ On a Facebook post this week, the Cuban-born prelate announced that he got married in a Los Angeles church. “I’m in Miami Beach with my new husband. God is good,” he wrote in a caption of a picture on the beach. According to the New York Post, many parishioners have severed ties to the church after Quevedo-Bosch came out. Many are opting to attend Mass at a satellite church a few blocks away. “Most of the people aren’t coming anymore,” an elderly woman told the newspaper. “Because he’s homosexual, people have stopped coming.” However, there are many people in the largely Hispanic congregation who are supporting their priest, especially after he publicly offered to resign, the woman added. A petition was circulated to urge him to stay. Saturday services have been canceled and attendance continued to dwindle down, the Post reported. While talking to the Post, Quevedo-Bosch would not answer questions about his former wife Adria or their divorce. He revealed very little about his new marriage to the unidentified man. “I am aware that there have been concerns regarding my divorce and subsequent remarriage and have been in touch with my bishop and my congregation about them,” he said. . Bishop Larry Provenzano, head of the Long Island diocese, which includes Queens, told the Post that he has been in touch with Quevedo-Bosch “as is customary in personal matters that involve divorce and remarriage.” He said the priest has his full support. “Priests who wish to enter into same-gender marriage are approved to do so in the Episcopal Church and in the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island,” Provenzano said. Earlier this year, the U.S. Episcopal Church voted to allow same-sex marriage in the church. In a Twitter post last week, Quevedo-Bosch said he would be keeping his personal...
